My Spring break

My New York and Virginia trip

One before the trip day on Friday March 22, my sister threw up a lot, still my family successfully made it on the trip, on Saturday March 23. The path was Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. At 1:30 PM in Ohio, we ate lunch at McDonalds and I had fries, nuggets and a cookie. At 7:00 PM in Pennsylvania, we ate dinner at Applebees and I had a chicken taco, some mozzarella sticks and apple juice. After 3 hours, we came to our hotel called Best Western plus in New Jersey and we slept. On Sunday, March 24, we went to Liberty State Park and went on a ferry boat which would take us to the Ellis Island National Museum. They’re my family and I saw how immigrants immigrated to America.
Between 1815 and 1860, more than 5 million immigrants arrived in America, mostly from countries like Great Britain, Ireland, Norway. The museum has clothing, silverware and accessories that people used to use back then. Then, we went on an another ferry that took us to the Liberty Island where the Statue of Liberty is there.
We enjoyed the view of the Statue of Liberty and the seagulls. Finally, we went back to New Jersey and saw the 9-11 memorial where it spells some of the 3000 people who struggled during September 11, 2001.
Then, we came to our hotel. To conclude the day, we went to Chipotle. The next day, we went to the 9-11 museum.
We saw how and why the terrorists crashed into the 2 twin towers and the live viewing of the North Tower crash. Then, we saw the Pentagon Memorial of the numerous people who struggled during the Pentagon crash.
Then, we went to the One World Observatory in the Freedom Tower
and at 4:20 my family and I went to the 100th floor and saw the views and we listened to a lady who was speaking about New York.
Then, we went on a walk in the financial district and saw the Charging Bull.
Then, we went on a walk halfway through the Brooklyn Bridge.
Then, we went to the Times Square,
in the Times Square an artist drew me and my sister’s caricature.
Then, we went to Raising Canes for dinner. Finally, we went to our hotel and slept. The next day, I had no breakfast and I had Chipotle for lunch because the restaurant is walkable and me and my sister like it. The next day at 4:00, we went to American Dream, I also saw MetLife Stadium where the Giants and Jets play their games. There, my dad and I went to the Paradox Museum. In the Paradox Museum there were many optical illusions and a few of them were very interesting and funny.
Then, my dad and I visited my mom and my sister in the 3D Art Museum where you have to act like the picture behind you.
The next day, we just ate breakfast and checked out of our hotel. After 2 hours we went to Drexel University in Philadelphia where the doctors get rats and the put my disorder called (HSP) Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia and see what medication cures them. Then, they’ll apply that to humans. In Drexel University, we met Dr. Oscar and Dr. Baas and they explained more about HSP. Then, we at lunch at McDonalds and I had fries and nuggets. While we were driving to Washington D.C, I saw the Lincoln Financial Field where the Philadelphia Eagles play their games. Then we saw how Philadelphia is poor and has many homeless people. Halfway through Maryland I slept and my dad saw the M&T Bank Stadium where the Baltimore Ravens play their games. Then, we went to McDonalds for lunch. At 5:00 me, my dad and my sister saw the White House
and my mom just roamed around in our car. 45 minutes later, we went to my dad’s cousins house. The next day, we went to Capital Hill, we got a tour guide to guide us through the statues, a movie and a story.
One statue made of gold caught my eye. The statue was named after the first king of Hawaii named Kamehameha. In the Supreme Court, we saw a synopsis story and saw the real Supreme Court.
When we were going to the Washington monument
there was heavy traffic and we assumed that the president was coming but, according to the Public schedule of the president, he was in New York. We saw the Washington Monument from far away, it was so tall. In the Lincoln Memorial, we saw the huge statue of Abraham Lincoln and his speech carved on the wall.
We saw the Jefferson Memorial from the riverfront, it has a dome on top. Gladly, the MLK Memorial is the same place as the Cherry blossoms. There was a statue of MLK made of stone, it was so cool.
Did you know that the Japanese people gave some Cherry Blossoms to the Americans?
The next day, my mom didn’t come because she had work. First, me, my dad and my sister came to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum where there was heavy traffic. In the first floor, we saw bird models of the Birds in D.C. the models looked so real. In the second floor, we saw early mammal and marine life, Did you know 100-140 million years ago, Australia & Asia removed the most animal population by 89% yet, Africa removed the least of the animal population by 17% and, 66-124 million years ago India was an island? We also saw a small live exhibit of fishes and coral. Then, we went to the Smithsonian American History Museum. We saw how locomotives, tables, utensils and ships were made back then. When we went 1 floor up, we got to make our own sport and I made a soccer game. At 5:30 we went to someone’s house and met there daughter and her friend because they have the same disability as me (HSP SPG4 de novo),
we stayed there for 4 hours and went to my dad's cousin's house. The next day, we went in our car to drive home. In Pennsylvania we went through the Allegheny Mountain tunnel, “There is always light at the end of the tunnel”. After a long time we went home.
